“Paws For Thought” Offers   New Resource for Pet Parents

Terri Ellen, owner of Nature’s Pet Market Salem, Salem Bed & Biscuit and Sunny Paws Grooming is volunteering to host a weekly radio talk show. She is now hosting a new show call PAWS FOR THOUGHT RADIO SHOW every Thursday on KMUZ 88.5 FM from 12:30 PM to 1 PM. The talk show can be heard at 88.5 FM, streaming online at KMUZ.org or through the free app  TUNEIN Radio on your iPhone or any smartphone.
The purpose of the show is to educate and entertain families for their pets, specifically dogs and cats, to help save lives and make living easier. Terri wants to help pet parents to make informed decisions for their pets.
Terri will discuss pet health related topics, invite professionals and experts in for interviews and inform residents about pet related events in and around the salem area. Some recent topics were the benefits of Coconut Oil, yeast infections and how to cure them, feral cats and the new programs to reduce the cat population, and training dogs. She plans on interviewing an expert on insects such as fleas, a pet psychic, a vet and a pet photographer in the near future and discussing relevant and seasonal topics such as flea prevention and eradication, cat care, how to read pet food ingredient labels, what is healthy pet food and TTouch (pet massage).
Terri’s show will benefit those with pets throughout the whole Salem community, not just those who shop at Nature’s Pet Market.  She strongly believes “Healthy Pets, Happy People and it’s a passion”

Xylitol Dogs

We all know that chocolate and onions are not good for our dogs but I'll bet you don't know about a hidden ingredient, XYLITOL! It's found in some of our human foods and can be harmful to your dog in large quantities. It's a sugar like substance being used more and more in our human foods. It's great for humans but causes a drop in blood sugar in dogs. Even a small piece of gum with Xylitol in it can injure your dog. We, at Natures Pet Salem , care deeply about your dog. Please keep Xylitol out of your dogs reach! Just a heads up!

Paws for Thought Radio Show - FLEAS

WHAT BUGS US THE MOST? FLEAS! LISTEN TO THE PAWS FOR THOUGHT RADIO SHOW ON KMUZ 88.5 FM OR ONLINE AT KMUZ.ORG OR THROUGH THE TUNEIN RADIO APP on your smartphone or  iPad .     Fleas are just awful. If you’ve ever had a flea infestation you know exactly what I am talking about! Fleas and ticks are much more than just a nuisance. They cause severe distress in dogs and cats and, more important, they cause disease. By the time a pet owner notices fleas on their pet, the fleas have already injected their salivary proteins, transmitted infectious diseases and are already laying eggs. Ticks can transmit diseases to a dog or cat way before the pests are even found and removed. The fleas that invade our homes and feed on our cats and dogs don't usually live on non-furry hosts like humans but they can and do bite people. Adult fleas are perfectly built for hiding in fur. They have flattened bodies that help them to navigate through fur or hair. They...
